Traction Journal #7 – “Time is flyin’ by!”

What did you love this week?

I loved the networking workshop! I took the advice of doing a little Research on who was coming prior to meeting them. it allowed me to really ask some important questions and get meaningful answers.

What resonated with you in workshops?

The idea that building a team needs to be focused around building a culture swell, a culture that promotes growth and allows everybody to flourish. Also when somebody just isn’t working out its important to address that issue head on instead of letting it fester and end up becoming a bigger issue down the line.

How might you apply this week’s learnings to your venture?

I feel like what I learned this week is more applicable to my later projects when we start to build a team, but just working on building a culture with my group. hopefully this will be easier in in-person clasess.

What does excellence look like for you and your team? What’s needed to get from here to there

I think excellence for our group is going to be getting everything together for our first pitch and feeling confident in our pitch. i’m not to worried at this coming together but I will be relived when it does. honestly this class is a lot more stressful than any class I’ve ever taken, I’m excited for the summer so I can relax before getting back into the swing of E&I

    hey Aidan,
This class is a hard one but I promise you will come out of it with so much passion, knowledge, and skill. I personally think you will learn how to build the skills you need not generic skills you already know. As for pitch day, you got this! Rehearsal is laid back and will help you in the end. Come prepared knowing your weak points and opening ask how to make them strong. Good luck!

Your work and thinking of future teams is a great place to be starting in and thinking of right now. I am so glad that you also store information away to use for later. I really hope that there were pieces in the information that you could find growth for yourself and your team.
And yes this class is stressful, crazy and one really fun ride. I am glad you are joining us. I hope you can get ready for the next quarter and learn how to pace yourself and the information intake. You are doing a fantastic job connecting and making an impact on others. I hope you continue to enjoy and learn from everything around you.

Hahaha you said this class is more stressful than others, and that’s probably right. It’s a lot of work. However, the skills and knowledge have the potential to reverberate throughout all parts of your life. Kinda the high effort, high reward type of situation.

“Also when somebody just isn’t working out its important to address that issue head on instead of letting it fester and end up becoming a bigger issue down the line.” I think thats probably right, but it’d be interesting to consider why that connected with you…

E&I is kinda weird for me because my teams normally work pretty much up to the deadline and dedicate a lot to the project (that’s a pretty ideal team dynamic – having alignment and all working towards a goal), but then after all that work its like “oh, that’s all, we’re done”… which feels like an abrupt change for me lots of times after I’m used to pursuing this one thing to just be done. But it sounds like for you with this class that will be a relief lol. I’m sure you’ll enjoy the summer!

Another random thought from me, I have learned so much outside of school from watching youtube lectures just on shit I’m interested in. For me the subjects include Clinical Psychology: Jordan Peterson. Entreprenurship: Blitzscaling (REALLY GOOD STORIES). Self-Awareness: Jon Kabat-Zinn. So if possible, continue pursuing personal expansion outside of the classroom in things you’re interested in. There are just so many dang talks and lectures from REALLY SMART people on Youtube for every subject.

Of course I am certain that you already know this from learning cardistry, I’m less trying to tell you what to do and more trying to remind you how valuable the resources out there waiting to be discovered are haha.

Best of luck on your journey.

    Cheers!
    Bryan
