  • Description: Here is a comic strip of the classroom culture that I am going to create. Coming into the year, the kids will be thinking “oh great, another year in history.” My attitude will be,” Let’s teach these kids, this year will be so much fun.” As the year goes on I am going to exhaust all my energy to make sure the kids have a fun year as well an academically rewarding year. By the end, I will be tired, exhausted, and irritated, but I will be satisfied by how much the students have improved and my hope is that yes they will be excited about summer but upset that they won’t have me as a teacher anymore.
  • List of standards: If my students truly have the attitudes displayed in my comic strip then I would have facilitated and inspired student learning and creativity; that is the first ISTE Standard for teachers. That standard is one of the most important to me because it allows the students to have fun but also gives them enough structure to develop their passion for learning.
  • Reflection: This comic strip doesn’t reflect any direct Common Core Standards but it does reflect a variety of ISTE Standards. Creating a classroom culture that inspires student learning and creates a passion for learning will be one of my main goals as a future teacher. The ISTE Standards help reflect what I want out of my classroom, and technology will be essential in creating that environment.
