In genre 4 in a book written by Reymundo Sanchez titled My Bloody Life. He writes plainly and powerfully, about his tragic tale living in the inner-cities of Chicago. In this book he goes into detail about the things that these young runaways must go through in their daily lives, in their life all they can truly rely on is love, honor and loyalty. These lost boys find security in the only way they know and that is the embrace of a gang family. As you read Reymundo explains how he was a lost boy in the inner-city. Physically abused and disowned by his mother and stepfather and was later sent to live with a stepbrother who of course could careless for him. He was initiated at the age of 14 by the Chicago Latin Kings and performed his first hit at that age as well. For exactly 10 years a 30-block area of Chicago defined this man’s life, defined his reality, he knew nothing else besides his own neighborhood. Writing this book was something that endangered Sanchez life and still to this day does, he wrote this book to show the people the horrors that they go through, that even when a young kid cries out for help he won’t get it. In school more than half of the staff overlook him because he is from the neighborhood he’s from. When Sanchez moved schools all the schools knew he was from the inner-city part of Chicago. It never leaves you, and change is what Sanchez wanted by writing this book. Sanchez uses ethos and pathos to contrast eachother in a way. He uses strong verbal language and vivid words, so you can picture his lifestyle in your mind, so you can picture his reality.
