Artist statement:

This is an extraordinary time for us all, but it seems especially unfair to be in your twenties (doesn’t it?). Quite the inheritance— on top of which we face the unavoidable and painful gestation of an adult identity. For me, it’s involved deep and intentional rumination on my religious trauma, family dysfunction, gender identity, grief, internalized misogyny and white supremacy, and more.

It’s a lot!

I hoped to outline that emotional landscape with this, my first exhibition, titled Impasse. Impasse is a series of self-explorative photographs distorted by experimental printing and collaging processes. All of the work was made by experimenting with an at-home consumer-grade HP printer: feeding it pages covered in tape, using empty ink cartridges, repeatedly printing on the same page, etc. I think I came up with something interesting!
