Scholarship Information

New Scholarship Portal Will Be Launched Soon Where All Students Will Apply for Scholarships. Please visit the Scholarship Center Page (linked here) for more information and the ability to sign up for updates and notification when the system is live.

The Behavioral Neuroscience (BNS) Program is proud to offer several scholarships each spring quarter for current majors. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of financial need and involvement in the field of BNS, or academic performance (merit) and involvement in the field of BNS. Priority will be given to students who have not received a merit scholarship previously. Students who received a merit based scholarship during the 2023-2024 academic year had an average 3.8 GPA. To be considered for a scholarship, you must complete this application. If you wish to be considered for a financial need scholarship, you must demonstrate financial need by either submitting a FAFSA or WASFA for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Scholarships will be allocated over three quarters (fall, winter and spring). Other allocation arrangements may be made on a case-by-case basis.

Eligibility:

  • Be accepted into the Behavioral Neuroscience Program. Pre-majors can apply if application to the BNS major is being considered Spring Quarter.
  • Must be enrolled full time during the academic year to maintain scholarship.

Financial need applicants must:

  • Have completed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or a Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA) for the current academic year.

Essay Questions:

We recommend working on your three essay questions in a separate document, then cop them into the appropriate field. For each question, please limit your responses to less than 1500 characters (includes spaces).

  1. Describe your involvement in activities related to BNS at Western. This may include research (list any conference presentations and publications), internships, NeRDS involvement, Compass 2 Campus, and volunteer work.
  2. Provide a brief statement regarding your educational and career goals.
  3. Explain how this scholarship will aid you in your goals described above, and how this scholarship will enhance your experience at Western.
