Tired of the treadmill and the weight room? Want to get pumped? Climbing provides a full body workout that will challenge you both mentally and physically. The Student Recreation Center offers two 30-foot high climbing walls in addition to a 12-foot high freeform bouldering wall boasting a total of 3,300 square feet of climbing containing routes of varying difficulty.
Don’t know where to start? Stop by the wall and ask an attendant how you can begin climbing. Our experienced staff will orient you to the wall, explain the policies and procedures and answer any questions you may have about our classes and equipment rentals.
Survive your climbing wall experience by reading our Climbing Wall Rules and Policies, then stop by next time you’re at the Student Recreation Center and find out why everyone wants to “Grab Life by the Walls.”
Fall Quarter (September 27 – December 15) climbing wall hours are:
- Monday: 11:00am – 8:30pm
- Tuesday: 11:00am – 10:00pm
- Wednesday: 11:00am – 8:30pm
- Thursday: 11:00am – 10:00pm
- Friday: 11:00am – 9:00pm
- Saturday: 11:00am – 7:00pm
- Sunday: 11:00am – 8:00pm
Note: The climbing wall will close at 8:30pm on Mondays and Wednesdays for WWU Climbing Club practice.

Coming December 1st & 2nd to the Rec Center climbing wall!
Learn routesetting fundamentals and basic skills for competition routesetting at our two day routesetting clinic at the Student Recreation Center Climbing wall.
Cost: $25 per person, free for current Campus Rec student employees. Registration is first come, first served and is limited to a maximum of 8 people.
Date and time: Friday, December 1 from 4-9 p.m. and Saturday, December 2 from 8 a.m. to Noon. Participants must attend both days of the clinic.

Late Night Top Roping
On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays during Fall, Winter and Spring Quarters we offer top rope climbing for the last two hours that the climbing wall is open! During this time we also offer free equipment rentals, so come join us!
Be sure to join us for top roping during fall quarter: 8-10pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 7-9pm on Fridays!
Northwest Collegiate Climbing Competition
The Northwest Collegiate Climbing Competition (NC3) series has been put together in order to foster intercollegiate climbing, camaraderie and competition. From three universities, the series has grown to nine host universities for the 2018 season.
The competition returns to Western Washington University when the Veni Vidi Ascendi event will be held at the Student Recreation Center climbing wall on Saturday, February 3rd, 2018!
