Major: Kinesiology: Movement Studies
Specialty: Weightlifting, long distance running, teaching movement patterns
Fitness philosophy: I believe that the most important and hardest part of fitness is making it a part of our lives. Building a habit of consistency in training will always come with results. As a trainer, it is my job to help my clients make this lifestyle change by helping them find an activity they enjoy. Whatever your goals may be, loving the process is a crucial part of getting to those goals!
Favorite exercise: The deadlift has been my favorite exercise ever since I started weightlifting. Nowadays, we spend a lot of the day seated and in a hunched over position. The deadlift is a great exercise to counter this.
Major: M.S. Exercise Science
Specialty: Speed, power and agility training, aerobic and anaerobic conditioning, injury prevention.
Fitness philosophy: Looking back at my sedentary high school self I would have never imagined my path would lead to personal training, and working towards a career in strength and conditioning research. While there are many fitness goals that can be achieved on the track or in the weight room, by far the most rewarding is to truly adopt a love for activity and movement. As a trainer, it is my hope that I can instill this virtue in all of my clients; with this, all goals can truly be achieved.
Favorite exercise: The Snatch. An exercise that requires both power and excellent technique, the snatch is an amazing way to improve speed and power, and is a staple exercise for high level athletes. While the “traditional” barbell snatch is not allowed in the weight room due to its high technical requirements, there are variations that can be performed; ask your weight room attendant for more information!
Major: Kinesiology: Pre-Physical Therapy
Specialty: Health and functional movement
Fitness philosophy: Fitness is all about finding what you enjoy. My passions change as I am always finding new activities try out. Taking care of yourself is important not only for physical health but mental health as well. Finding out what gets you moving and having fun is important for living a healthy life. Fitness promotes an environment of positivity and self-improvement that I love being a part of!
Favorite exercise: Squats are number 1! They are a standard functional movement and should be included in nearly everyone’s workout routine.
Major: Kinesiology: Pre-Physical Therapy
Specialty: Weightlifting and Conditioning
Fitness philosophy: My fitness journey began with my parents. Since they are both PE teachers I was pushed to try a multitude of activities and sports. However, nothing ever got me as excited as wrestling. After my freshman year of high school I began strength training and never looked back. For me, exercise is a way to take a break from my day and help me de-stress, like a form of meditation. Utilizing its mental and physical benefits helps you to live an interesting and healthy life. I also believe that life is a marathon so keeping exercise fun and inventive is the key to making it last.
Favorite exercise: Pull-Ups! I have recently started doing more body weight exercises since they push you mentally and are low impact
