Data-Gathering Methods

Surveys and interviews, the traditional way to go when conducting research and that’s exactly what we did. Surveys provided us with a wide range of general responses to questions of people from all different religions. Interviews proved to be successful also. These allowed us to gather more in-depth responses and allowed us to put the pieces together as to why people were saying what they were saying. That’s the point of it all! By having this information we could then make spreadsheets and graphs to see the data side by side and apply the verbal responses to it and see the reasoning behind the responses. We made our information matter and credible by using both methods to collect data and answer our question. Of course after analyzing we were able to come to a shocking conclusion.

Our Steps for Collecting Data:

  1. Write a draft research question.
  2. Brainstorm survey and interview questions.
  3. Refine or change research question if necessary.
  4. Find the target audience.
  5. Post on various platforms to find participants.
  6. Reach out to various groups connected to your research (for us it was religiously or non affiliated groups.)
  7. Conduct interviews with those who are willing.
  8. Monitor data collected.
  9. Begin analyzing data and mapping our connections.
  10. Create graphs and spreadsheets of data.
  11. Analyze and Conclude.
