About Us

Before we get into the purpose behind our research project, let’s hear a little bit about the authors. We come from a small city called Mill Creek in Washington. Both of us went to Henry M. Jackson High School and graduated in the class of 2018. We have known each other for about 3 years now and are currently both freshman at Western Washington University. So, what reasons would we have for wanting to find similarities between language and computer coding? Well, for starters, both of us have no experience whatsoever in the field of computer science yet many of our close friends are immersed in the field of computer science. When we were asked to construct a research project that pertained to language in some way, the idea of humans and their interactions with computers through code was particularly interesting to us. Through our research project we hoped to learn more about computer code for our own sake and for those who are also interested in computer science. We did this since people in the past have correlated computer code and language, but there has been little research that confirms it. So we set out to research this topic through online research we could find and an opinion based student survey. Our other consideration revolved around the relevance of computer science. Not only is computer programming one of the fastest growing fields of study but it is also one of the most in-demand jobs at the moment. Huge corporations such as Google and Amazon are constantly battling to come out with the newest and improved cutting edge technology while behind the scenes, computer programmers are working tirelessly to execute programs beneficial to their company.
