Conclusion

In exploring the five genres that I used in this webtext (namely: essays, flash fiction, poetry, audio podcasting, and single-page comics), I found that they are fundamentally similar in many ways. Each of them tells a story equally well, albeit in different fashions from each-other. I will say that the audio and visual realms allowed me to express what I wanted to say in a more relaxed and freer style, as I wasn’t focusing on making my words perfect. The audio proved to be surprisingly satisfying to record as well, and I could begin to ramble without worrying that I was losing the audience. The most difficult part of assembling this webtext was my attempt to write poetry. I have never been particularly good at writing pure poetry, and most of the poetry that I do write ends up looking more like prose. While I would say that holds true here, I am rather proud of what I ended up creating. The visual design of this webtext is supposed to be simple, yet elegant, with space enough that the reader can read comfortably, and images that don’t distract from the message being conveyed.
