Summer credit hours are down. Our DRAC Summer budget is smaller.
Everyone will get less and everyone will get proportionally less.
Summer budget projections
* Enrollment is down so funding will be less than last year
* S&A working on distribution percentages for summer
* Per Bianco, recommend change way budgets are planned
o S&A will set rate charged per credit hour this year for summer 18
o Multiply rate by expected summer credit hours
o Multiply projected total by DRAC’s current summer’s percent share
o Calculate each program’s summer percentage for current year and apply
to DRAC’s projected total to get next year’s base to budget from
o Understand these are estimates only and actual allocation could be
lower
o Revise program percentages after budgets submitted and approved
Reserves policy and procedures discussions
* Wording of Equipment Reserves/Equipment Replacement Fund o No
additions made yet to Equipment list
o Collect Equipment lists from all programs
* Revisions to and/or approval of Reserve Allocation Request
form/format
Summer tuition costs more money, and extra burden on students when
enrollment is down. Can DRAC budget for the whole year, rather than
separate out summer?
Jim DeWilde – motion: whether the DRAC funding comes in above and/or
below, that we get distributed the funds by the proportional share of
the request. Second: Carolyn Nielsen
All in favor.
DRAC will be cut $26,000 for summer. We will get $87,000 for all of DRAC.
S&A Chair needs to review the numbers. Looking at 1/4 less.
S&A wants to disproportionately split the pie so S&A gets the
funding they want (since they hire more students),
DRAC has reserves but we have 75% in equipment replacement needs.
We need to defend the constituency that budgeted well. We were asked by
S&A to create a reserve.
S&A meeting at 4:00 in the VU on May 10th, 2017 – 4th floor at 462A
Rebecca wants transparency of our requests.
Outline a section for other sources of funding, like grant requests.
Carolyn moves: add a section for other funding that may be associated with
the request and to approve.
Second: Jim DeWilde Vote next week.
Meeting adjourned at 9:51 p.m.
