Orientation to DRAC

Introduction of new student representatives and attendance:
Korry discussed Communications – Forensics and ranking in the country. Christopher Bianco discussed music department.
Theatre discussed how theatre and dance is open to anyone on campus. Provides opportunity to the students and community in the summer.
International affairs – one big conference with different committees. Make international policy to help everyone around the world. One of the main topics is Peaceful uses of space.
Suzanne Blais – Western Window – There was a journalism course for Western View television show. The class stayed for basic television skills to students. 7 years ago there was a re- invigoration of a magazine style show that would represent Western. That is what Western Window is, and shares some things in common with the Window magazine. It is created and run by students. Airs once a week.
These are all programs related to the department but open access to all students on campus. Also incorporates a performance, publication or competition in some way.
We will be working on our budgets for the next academic year. Then prepare our students to get ready to go to S&A for the funding request.
Tuition is going up 3.3% Tuition may be frozen next year. It is up to the legislature.
Election of Chair – Bianco has been on the committee for 7 years and serves as the chair for the last 3 years.
