Steve Woods kicked off the meeting at 9:05 as the returning “Vice Chair” until attendance was up and a vote on this year’s Chair, Vice Chair, Faculty Representative. Heather Dalberg volunteered as the Secretary again this year.
Keira will be able to return in Winter and Spring. Samuel Panek said he would fill in for her role during Fall quarter.
John Harris (new publications Chair) brought to our attention that Occam’s Razor an academic journal has been accepted for publication and no longer an AS Club. This development happened in between a time when AS had no funds and DRAC was already distributed. Occam’s Razor is in need of at least $900 to get started at the home base to cover simple expenditures like facilities cleanup and internet hookup for 3 computers, etc.
Ted Sealey mentioned that DRAC has a reserve this year of approximately $1500 that could be used towards this purpose if the students agreed in a vote.
Erin Emry asked the question if Publications can have one budget, and wanted to know why it had more than one budget. For many reasons explained that publications branch over several departments: Journalism, English, Environmental studies. A joint reserve for all DRAC recipients was discussed, but for now functionally operated individually.
Since Erin Emry is a proxy for Beth Leonard, it was decided we had a quorum.
9:40 a.m.
John Harris made a motion for $500 seed money until more folks are here to discuss DRAC reserves for startup costs. Robin S. seconded the motion. All was in favor.
“$500 from DRAC reserves will be allocated to Occam’s Razor to help pay for start-up costs- specifically for its new office .”
Next DRAC meeting November 18, 2014.
9:45 Samuel called for adjournment. Second by Scott, Meeting adjourned.
