“We are torn between nostalgia for the familiar and an urge for the foreign and strange. As often as not, we are homesick most for the places we have never known.” – Carson McCullers
The word anticipation, for me, brings to mind the excited and anxious feeling when I’m waiting for a specific event or day to come. The first thing that I thought of was the morning of that special day and how it feels to wake up restless and ready to start it.
In this soundscape I wanted to capture the feeling of anticipation toward the day that one gets in the morning. It is a compilation of found sounds including a woman humming, birds, synthesized beat, and a cat’s meow. It follows along the story of a woman who greets the day happily as if she has been waiting for it to come. Her cat is eager to get her food and scratches at her door (inspired by my roommate’s cat who can get quite feisty in the morning). This soundscape overall captures both the calm and crazy while you begin to greet the day in the morning ☺️🌷🌿🌞
Mac I love this soundscape! It sounds so cinematic, I could easily see a video accompanying it as well, (granted that takes a lot of time and editing hah) but I feel your choice of photo has such a great vignette that has a narrative of it’s own.
You layered these sounds beautifully, everything is strange and comforting, and the sounds blend and intertwine in interesting ways.
I love this one! The sounds are not too overwhelming and it’s really easy to listen to. I like the eeriness almost that it brings and I think that it portrays anticipation very well. I like the added element of music and that it’s not too much to make it like a song it still comes across as a soundscape.
This is really fun, I appreciate how pleasant and calming the sound scape is, It kinda made me feel like this is looking forward into the possible idealized soundscape of what we could be hearing in Italy. Which has me really excited to get there! Overall really cool!
I quite literally love this. Specifically the humming and synthesized beat together. I cannot stop listening, it feels very nostalgic and warm.
Really well put together, I like the slow ramping up of volume, a very pleasant listen overall. It’s a great insight into your headspace, using a soundscape is great for this, because I think on occasion words falter in representing such a thing.
Nya! Really wonderful. What app are you using to mix? You have a musical ear, obviously to find the notes of the hum and match music. My only suggestion would be to watch the levels, the cat to me is quite loud. Think of it as a member of the band, if someones too loud it sort of messes with the mix. I’d also suggest some panning, send the sounds into different directions to add more depth, make it feel like a real place in time. Molto Bene!!!!
