Hi there, this is Annikki and I am recording my Anticipation blog for the upcoming trip to Italy.
So, to start things off, in this video, you can see that I’m pointing the camera up towards the sky.
Which is just me mentally preparing for how long the plane ride is gonna to be and also wondering if it’s going to have nearly as pretty skies as we do.
I am recording this from the Communications Building, but the video is at the bus stop by where I live currently.
I’m wondering what it’s going to be like in Italy. If there’s even going to be any bus stops.
This is a really good opportunity, but I’m also very nervous and this shows in my video; it’s kind of all over the place.
The way that I’m videoing is supposed to make you feel uncomfortable. That’s how I feel, the closer that I get to when we leave.
I don’t know why, I think it’s just nerves, but I have some anxiety in preparation for going abroad.
Mainly around making sure I have everything ready. Making sure I have all the art supplies or make sure I have some sort of plan to know what I’m gonna need when I get there.
I’m especially worried about the SIM card situation.
I think that’s what I’m gonna do now is get a SIM card, but I don’t want to lose all contact with people because my phone number is changed.
So that’s something I’d like to talk to people about if they have the same issue.
But anyways, I’m really looking forward to it and I’m really going to miss my cat, but I will see her when I get back and it’s going to be so fun.
See ya there!
[Chirping and purring sounds were recorded by me.]
Annikki I really enjoyed watching your video and listening to how you’ve been experiencing anticipation. I can relate to a lot of what you said, I think your narration accompanies your video very well and I appreciate the stream of conscious aspect to this piece.
There’s a strong dissonance between the camera work, meant to be disorienting, and your speaking, which is very tranquil over the ambience! I don’t mean this as a negative, I really enjoyed the video, but your stream of consciousness was calming, and I’m not sure if that’s what you intended lol.
I’m glad you got this done! You have an interesting speaking voice. It projects a lot of character. The video is sort of blown out. I think because you made it a featured image. Not sure. Technical stuff. Maybe for videos, take a screen shot of the video and embed it in your post. I’ll see if I can fix it. I’ve been thinking a lot about documentaries, audio ones and video ones, how they can be very creative and experimental. I am reminded of my thoughts as I listen and watch. Looking forward to hearing and seeing more!
