Anticipation is a never ending stretch of waiting, a space to let worry fester like a mass of flies over a full kitchen sink. It is a place to rehearse conversations until you’ve played so many angles of another person that your not sure if they’re real or just a projected persona to bounce ideas off of. It is to stand on tip toes without allowing my heels to sink into the ground, its a suitcase I can’t seem to unpack.
How do I begin when I know it will end, how can I rest when the work is all laid out in front of me. The bugs see all of it and whisper their jittery thoughts into my ears.
Script – Rainy bus rides, a strangers violin practice, and the sound of bugs chewing tunnels through my brain
Kay, Your soundscape enhances your sketch in such an interesting way. The beginning with the bus beeping is such a familiar and melancholy noise, when I am getting on the bus I usually feel like this drawing as well. Your last paragraph,” How do I begin when I know it will end” Is exactly how I’m feeling too. You wrote this out so eloquently.
this idea for a soundscape is so creative. I love your idea and your ability to mix sounds in a satisfying way. this feeling of jitters is so real and I think that the idea of bugs festering is a really interesting take on a very familiar feeling.
This is a very cinematic piece! Your recordings are very clear, but have a sort of crackly warmth that suits the piece well. I like the bugs!
I’m enjoying the layering. Your original sound making, and voice are very well mixed into the more urban, outside scenes. Sometimes there are sonic differences in the quality and it can break the trance. The bus is so clear and the rain near the end really reminds me of home. Your description is also a work of art. Looking forward to hearing more!
