Settling In

I feel settled in a half-litre of red with friends,
when laughter resonates off the rim of my glass

like great cathedral walls. I’ll catch a scent on

the wind that carries me back to buildings

I only saw from low angles. Just craning

my neck up again, the dust slides

off old memories of youth,

as foreign as anything

else. And my neck

is aching. And my

jaw is aching.

And my

hands

itch.

But my legs are strong, seasoned over many miles, and my luggage scatters like entrails leaking a sweaty perfume, zipped up for the journey’s undertaking.

  1. Dylan you’re such a wonderful person I’m so glad we’re friends. This was a really enjoyable soundscape to listen to, the mixing is nice, Iove the layering of sound you’ve done. Slay mama

  2. id be your hyperactive dog any day of the week. (I am incredibly touched and thankful your in my life) (like seriously I’m so happy were friends)

  3. Dylan I cannot describe how incredibly touched I feel at this moment…. Getting to know you and Natasha and Charlie has been the one of the best parts of this trip for me 🥲 My favorite thing about you is the way you light up like a Christmas tree when you talk about something that you love with a passion and I know I could sit for hours just listening to you talk about dungeons and dragon or armor or gargoyles or Ally!!! You make me laugh in a way that only my family has made me laugh with your jokes and accents and I’ve had such an incredibly fun time dancing with you and being able to be fully myself and not having to feel like a weirdo for it 😮‍💨 You are truly one of a kind and I’m so grateful that I get to know you on a more personal level 😀 Hoorah for friendship⚔️
