“…the night has impaled itself on my soul” -Dulce María Loynaz
For this soundscape I wanted to capture the feeling of finally settling into a place where you feel like you belong. I wanted to capture the blissful, peaceful feeling of the country and when one finds peace at last. After coming to the monastery I felt as if I could reflect on my journey better and start to feel as if I have a routine here in Italy at last. I used sounds I recorded of everyday moments from our time here as well as natural sounds of the environment. I used some found footage of waves and the ocean to add a background ambiance as well. I wanted this post to focus more on settling into the country rather than the city because I felt as if that transition was more influential to me and how I was processing traveling. The soundscape should pull out the happy memories of being at the monastery combined with the calming atmosphere of finally belonging.
Nya!! What an incredibly relaxing and soothing soundscape!! Going to the monastery and having a chance to relax and recharge was one of the most settling and healing things for my soul and I feel like your soundscape perfectly reflects that. I am so grateful for the monastery giving us the chance to learn each other better and I’m so looking forward to the rest of the trip now that we’re more settled in!! Great job on this soundscape!!
