“The magic thing about home is that it feels good to leave, and it feels even better to come back.” -Wendy Wunder
For this soundscape I wanted to capture all of the little things I enjoy while being back at home. I don’t pay as much attention as I should to the little things and being away has led me to hold a greater appreciation for them. Whether it’s singing along to songs in the car, drinking some radioactive mtn dew, laughing with my friends, getting to relax by the fire, or petting a kitty, I have enjoyed all of the little things while being back home. For my soundscape I really wanted to create a fictional narrative of getting back home through sounds of rain (classic Bellingham sound) and my everyday routine to set the listener into a mindset of being welcomed back. I used both found sounds including the relaxing beat and my own personal sounds (laughter, etc.) to create a soundscape narrative that encapsulates coming back home and being relaxed.

I really enjoyed you talking about missing the little things, the things that are so mundane that you don’t notice them until they are taken away. Those are the things that often can bring so much comfort in your day to day life. I hope you are enjoying having them back.
