I see anticipation as a mix of emotions- sometimes even helpful. Anticipation is exciting and intimidating all in one, with a touch of fear. What if something goes wrong? It helps you prepare, takes the anxiety and turns it into a tool to keep you prepared. Above is an improv conversation between me and my roommate. I ask them to take care of my animal crossing game for me while im away- a silly thing to worry about I know but im anticipating being gone for the Halloween event. I wanted to take a fun lighthearted approach to this first post. Below are some pulled transcribed quotes.
(C is for me, charlie. G is for my roomate Grace)
“C: I might need you to do Animal Halloween Crossing for me. Animal crossing, Halloween for me. I’ll be in Italy. There are items exclusive to Halloween.
G:This is the funniest request anybody’s ever asked-
C:I don’t want to miss any of the items!
G: I would be honored to play Animal Crossing Halloween for you.
C: Thank you.”
“G: All right. How is this school related?
C: Well, there’s this assignment for- we have blog posts in- The first one’s theme is anticipation, and I am anticipating-I’m like anticipating, I don’t know. My teacher did a thing today about anticipating not being able to drink banana water? And I was like, well- I’m kind of anxious about missing Animal Crossing Halloween! It’s the little things.”

Charlie I really really enjoyed listening to your blog post, it made me laugh (in a good way) I too am worried about acquiring the Halloween items in Animal Crossing and have also instructed a friend to obtain them for me. It’s interesting what little things do pop up once you are leaving for a bit, that you didn’t think were as important to you as you previously thought.
Charlie, no matter what format it is in, I absolutely adore your energy!! Your conversation with your roommate was so natural and open and honest, and it felt like I was right there in the room with you guys (probably because the quality of your recording is so crisp and clear)!! There are so many little things that I know I’m going to miss (in particular, being able to come home and cuddle with my pets after a long day), but I just have to remind myself that this month will pass by in the blink of an eye, so I just have to relax and enjoy my time while I’m there!!
This is such a fun take on this project! I love how it combines the excitement of leaving but still the stress of leaving behind our everyday life and some events. I love how fun and authentic this is and how you can almost hear the emotions in the voices. I like how the visuals perfectly relate to the subject matter and give a little tease to what is in the sound. Good job!
Your mentioning banana water really hit home! Wow how far away we are. This was a nice snap shot of your last hours at home. A simple yet effective post. I especially enjoyed how you describe, or your roommate describes the need to make sure nothing explodes in your absence. The unknowable time when you are away, what are your things doing? We sense that the world might go on without us. And it will. There is something very humbling about that. But also liberating.
