Jonathan Lashley (BA, 2008) earned a Ph.D. in Learning Sciences from Clemson University in 2019, accepted a position as Associate Chief Academic Officer for the Idaho State Board of Education that same year, and was recently appointed Chair of Idaho’s General Education Committee- the Board-designated group that coordinates general education policy and administration statewide.

BA, 2006: Andrea Boyd
Andrea Boyd (BA, 2006) graduated with emphasis study in Accounting and English. She attended Seattle Antioch University MS Management & Leadership program in 2010-11. Andrea began working for non-profit organizations in Bellingham 25 years ago at Boys & Girls Club, Whatcom Volunteer Center, and Allied Arts of Whatcom County. She has volunteered as a board member of Old Town Business Association in downtown Bellingham, as well as volunteered at Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center, Children of The Setting Sun Productions of Lummi, Pratt Fine Arts Center, and Chad’s Legacy. Andre has worked at non-profit organizations and governments, including the Tulalip Tribes Government, Nooksack Indian Tribal Government, 501 Commons, and Lavender Rights Project. Her non-profit work and volunteering entails doing these kinds things; 501(c)3 application, finance, accounting, budgeting, grant and program reporting per Federal OMB regulations, special events coordination, auction fundraising, and assist with grant writing.

Anne Greenfield (MA, 2005) has been awarded promotion to Full Professor of English at Valdosta State University and has recently published the edited collection: Castration, Impotence, and Emasculation in the Long Eighteenth Century (Routledge 2020).
BA, 2007: Brooklyn Walter
Brooklyn Walter (BA, 2007) is the director of The Writing Center at Washington State University and a doctoral candidate in WSU’s Rhetoric and Composition department. She recently published a co-written article in the Journal of Adolescent and Adult Literacy titled “A ‘Threat’—or ‘Just a Book’? Analyzing Responses to 13 Reasons Why in a Discourse Community.”

Rena Priest (BA, 2005) is a 2019 Jack Straw Writer, and recipient of a National Geographic Explorer Grant. She will be reading at Village Books on July 7th to promote the anthology, For Love of Orcas.

Carter Hasegawa (BA 2001) is the author and photographer for Employees Must Wash Hands: A Bathroom Reader in Pictures, published by Sky Horse Books in 2017. He is a full-time children’s book editor at Candlewick Press and a photographer at Long River Photography.
