For many, video games play a large role in their day to day lives, whether that be spending a relaxing afternoon by yourself, playing a game with your friends, or competing against other top-notch gamers. Video games also play a large role in the day to day lives of those who make it their mission to find the story behind the game, the lore. Lore is, in the simplest of terms, the backbone of a game. In more complex terms, it is a set of elements that complement the narrative. Even the smallest of details can add incredible depth, or even expand the history of the world the game, or series of games, takes place in. We hoped to find out how video game writers incorporated lore into their games, and how, depending on the way they write lore into the games, gamers and non-gamers alike interpret the story of the game.
