The research studies that I participated in were online and in person. The two in person research studies that I did were very different from one another. The first one I was put into a small room with a computer. As the experimenter read me the instructions, I was told to drink a cup of water and read and sign the informed consent form. She told me that the water was to cleanse my pallet and was a control variable. Then she gave me two pieces of gum that looked like the eclipse gum. I was then told to follow the instructions on the computer and write my answers in the packet. When I finished I gave her my packet and was free to leave. The other in person study I did was very different. I was in a room with a couple of other people not secluded like I was in the first one. Then we were all given the informed consent form to fill out. After that we were given a survey and that was it. The other few studies that I did were online which made it easier for me to complete them but also didn’t have much difference besides the questions they were asking. They all usually had the same scale of strongly agree to strongly disagree. There were a couple of the research studies that I did that were psychology 101 students only. I think they wanted me being in that category because I wouldn’t be able to really read into the question and would just answer. Also, I think it could be that because you are usually starting out when you take that class so it would just be a way to get younger college students thoughts. As far as the data I think they just wanted to see how people would react to certain things. The two in person studies had two sets of questions, they told you about the different sets after you finished. The gum study had a couple different types of gum they were having people chew to see if the results would change based on the gum you were chewing. The other study was about youth and jail time and sentencing. The two different surveys had the ages different. I was presented with the youth being 13-15 years old and other people got their survey as 16-17-year old. They did that to see if the age would change the answer of the person. I think that the people who are going to analyze the data are going to see if there is any correlation between anything. Each study I participated in had some sort of demographic questions in order to see if that has an effect on anything. I think some of the studies that I participated in will have interesting outcomes.
Wow! That gum one sounds really interesting!
Thanks for participating in these to help further research.
