Something that made me want to work with this medium is that I think drawing is really relaxing, I don’t really consider myself an artist but when I have a good idea of what I want to do it usually turns out how I imagine it. Drawing takes a long time and in this case I was done studying and couldn’t sleep so I just continued to stay up and work on this which was actually very enjoyable. I think this medium allows one very significant component of communication which is an intricate amount of detail, using pen helps the artist show much more in less space then alternative mediums such as painting or sculpting however those mediums have a largely different final product and are viewed in an entirely different light. This new medium helps expand the original narrative in a way because without the initial narrative the drawing is simply a picture that tells only a small story, while the narrative tells much more; when viewing both together they work with each other to show more than the narrative could alone, the drawing helps add an assortment of emotion that could only be interpreted by few readers through the narrative by itself.
Tor,
I am glad you use drawing as a creative outlet. While you may not view yourself as an “artist”, you have a keen eye for analyzing how your artworks functions. That being said, this is a pretty cool piece of art! I like how you mix geographical shapes with the swirls of the boarder. I can also discern the physical action of the car (as described in your narrative) in your drawing. Your color scheme also relays the emotions present in your narrative well. Your discussion on how the two pieces are meant to stand together (and work together) is a great observation on why we mix mediums in the first place.
Overall, a great job!
