My name is Carly Spradlin. I am from a very small town called Montesano, and no, you’ve never heard of it. I am currently attending Western with no specific plans for my major. I came here thinking I would major in Elementary Education, I realized soon after I came to Western that is not what I want to pursue. Now I am trying to figure it out by taking many different classes that vary widely in topics. Currently in English 101 I’m learning what I like about about writing and what I don’t. I have always kept a journal and I enjoy writing entries, letters, texts, and on post-it notes. I would much rather write an argumentative essay than anything else because I believe I’m better at writing those. At the beginning of the year I when we wrote our literacy narratives I had a hard time writing it for a while but, it helped me write about myself. I think writing narratives or any pieces that are about me are the most difficult, even though theoretically it should be the opposite. I have always wanted to be a good writer but, have not known how to improve, so that is why started a journal. Although I like writing it definitely does not come easy to me. I think it doesn’t come easy to me because i’m also not a great reader, I get distracted very easily. This is why we aimed to design our web text to be read in small portions. We wanted to make the site easy to follow with lots of information while it not being super text heavy, which I think we achieved. We began by picking a theme that could make it easy for everyone to follow. People just have to go down the menu chronologically to keep reading about different aspects of our research. We also tried to make the website aesthetically pleasing and not crazy. We chose a theme that had nice colors and was somewhat simple. We added to it by added a bright background for the main page. With all these factors I am confident we have made a web text that most people will enjoy.
