My name is KJ Miller and I’m 18 years old. I was born and raised in Seattle, WA, but am now currently living in Bellingham, WA as I start my freshman year at Western Washington University. Although I am undecided with my major right now, I am leaning towards sociology or environmental studies! I love listening to music, photography, being outside and writing! I believe that writing is such an important tool for communication. For me, I’ve always used writing as an outlet. I think being able to get whatever is in your head, out onto paper, in front of you, plays a huge role in processing what you’re feeling/what’s in your head. Outside of writing, learning about new things that interest me is another passion of mine! I get excited when learning or talking about philosophical questions, looking into moral and ethical issues, and even love to learn about certain conspiracy theories. I like learning about things that aren’t always black or white, or have a straight answer. I enjoy learning and contemplating about the unknown and the ambiguity that exists in our world.
My partner, Olivia and I’s webtext dives deeper into the research project we have started, that investigates social media and the impacts it has on people, especially our generation. We mainly researched the negative effects of social media, as well as the interactions between people online and in real-life social situations. You can access our webtext and the full results from our research project at https://wp.wwu.edu/socialmedia18/ . When designing our webtext, we tried to make it as interesting, easy to read, and accessible as possible. We wanted to keep most of our site relatively simple, with not a lot stuff distracting our viewers from the important content! That being said, we didn’t want it to be boring so we added color and pictures when necessary to enhance our website. We hope you enjoy our webtext!
