For extension Project A, I chose to challenge myself by writing my Literacy Narrative over as a poem. However I did not use a poetic style known to most. I used a poetic style I encountered some time ago in a book I read. The book is called Way of Kings, and is part of the Stormlight Archives written by Brandon Sanderson. Below is my interpretation of that poetic style, and my submission for Extension Project A.
Books for Food
Want to forget, world, forget to want
Books for food, deal, food for books
Comfort with sit, cats, sit with comfort
Book reading now, convincing, now reading book
Brave new world, diving, new world brave
Books as magic, always, magic as books
Perception different always, phrasing, always different perception
Trio of three, friends, three of trio
Ignore all real, read, real all ignore
Flip final page, finish, page final flip
Not much food, however, food not much
Knowledge as value, naught, value as knowledge
Return to stories, always, stories to return
~Perry Olix
What style of poem is this? Did the book give it a specific name? The poem is well done, and I am glad you tried something that challenged you.
Even though you gave me a brief description, the Project A prompt asks that you reflect on the use of genre and medium–and in turn how that changes the way you communicate your literacy narrative to your audience.
Please go back and revise your reflection, and address some of the questions posed in the prompt.
