To transform my literacy narrative I used watercolor to depict what happened in my story. In the painting I am showing the first scene of when I started reading “The Handmaid’s Tale”, I am shown laying in a hammock in the words by a river bed. It’s a simple picture but shows me the beginning of a good story. I chose this medium because it is my favorite to work with in general. Watercolor is very forgiving and even if mistakes are made you can still make it look good. It also does not need to be very detailed, it can be more abstract, which is another factor I appreciate. By painting my narrative it allows the viewer to see it all in one glance and interpret for themselves. Even though what I painted is pretty self explanatory, some people may see something different than what I was trying to say, which would be interesting to see how they interpret it.
This looks great Olivia. I love the color palette you chose for the watercolor. I feel like it really captures the tone of you getting lost in a good book.
Keep up the good work!
