I am Derek and I am from a small Washington town called Duvall. This town has about 8,000 people and it has only one drive-through which is a Starbucks. I have always loved a variety of sports for as long as I can remember. It started with Football and the Seahawks, then it went to Basketball, which I played for six years and now it is Soccer, which I have played since I was seven. My love for soccer is indescribable, and I have learned a variety of things because of my love for “The Beautiful Game”. I have not just learned players names, stats and teams in the U.S., I know about soccer teams around the world and knowing player names and the places where they are from, which helped me grow my knowledge of geography and start my interest in History which I picked as my major.
I do not typically enjoy writing. I never saw writing as a necessary thing to master, so I didn’t write much in elementary or middle school. When I did start writing a fair amount in high school, especially junior and senior year for AP classes, I would mostly write non-fiction stories about sports or history and fiction stories about a persons’ journey. When I write about history I like writing in-depth stories about certain wars or significant events that happened pre-civil war. The journeys that I write about involve a wide variety of locations and people. Still most of the writing that I currently do is for class assignments, which can be frustrating because there doesn’t tend to be a lot of freedom on what topic you can write about for an assignment used for a class.
Tanner and I still have some small edits to do for our web text. We chose the picture because it has a good comparison of eBooks to print books and the picture is centered in the box as well as not being too pixelated. The background of the picture is good because it shows that this comparison of digital and print books is a global debate not just a local debate. We chose the web text design because it seemed like it was a clean, simple design and the colors pop out which makes you want to read it more. The menu location was convenient being right under the picture. The text color is something that we still might change to fit with the design of the web text. We want the readers to have something that pops out at them but is also easy to access. Since the menus are at the top it isn’t hard to find the next section that you might want to read. We would also like you to leave a comment after you finish reading the finished web text to tell us what you thought about our research.
