Skagit Symphony with soloist Erika Block

Skagit Symphony’s opening Gala Concert launches the 2016-2017 season with an array of music with virtuoso sparkle, dramatic moods and playful spirit. The delightfully talented Erika Block will team up with the orchestra in a performance of Weber’s brilliant Clarinet Concerto No. 1. With Weber’s dramatic overture to Der Freischütz, Khachaturian’s Masquerade Suite and Grainger’s high-spirited pieces like Shepherd’s Hey, we’ll raise a bubbly toast to the season.

A Light in Darkness: Fifth Inversion and WWU Concert Choir

Fifth Inversion joins the WWU Concert Choir led by Leslie Guelker-Cone. As Thanksgiving approaches in the Pacific Northwest and the days grow short in preparation for the coming winter, our thoughts turn to home and hearth and comfort. We are reminded of the joys of family and community and celebration, and we are thankful for the incomparable beauty that surrounds us. We greet the season with a mixture of feelings: nostalgia and loss, gratitude and hope. This concert will feature beautiful choral music that reflects these varied themes as we join together to usher in the holiday season with songs that inspire and uplift us, bringing light to our wintry days.
