Japanese Food

Japanese food is the most associated type of food with the Asian culture. The Japanese have a rich history of culture filled with family dynasties, exuberant clothing, and in my opinion, the most important facet of their culture is the food. Sushi is known as the most popular Japanese food and is usually the first thing people think of when they think of Japanese food, also it has been a huge hit in America. If you do not believe look around here in Bellingham. There is at least five restaurants that serve sushi as a dish. Japanese food has put a cultural shift in America and has opened the door for many other Asian foods to be appropriately accepted among Americans.

The piece of writing I chose to accompany this category displays the impact of Japanese culture through restaurants in America. There has been a boom of Japanese restaurants in America since the early 2000s. This was an unprecedented boom considering the Japanese were enemies of America in the late 20th century and were displaced in camps around America. For me seeing a lot of different Japanese restaurants around where I live is something special for me to see because I understand that twenty years ago none of this would be possible.
