Curriculum Vitae — or the things I’ve done as a professional

Work Experience

Head of the Research & Writing Studio

(June, 2014 – Current)  Western Washington University LibrariesImage of Gabe speaking

This role is a continuation of other positions  that have been revised over time as we have reorganized to meet the needs of students. I started as Head of Research Consultation (like a Head of Reference), that got tweaked  as we integrated Research Consultation with the Writing Center to create the Hacherl Research & Writing Studio in 2015. The big ideas behind the Studio is an integration of research, writing, and reading academic literacies supports into one program and space. That is combined with a studio-based pedagogy to scaffold learning where students are getting their work done. At various times my primary focus was on professional development for personnel, faculty development, integrated literacies workshop and learning object development, and graduate program support.

With further adjustments to our programs I took on the role of Head of the Research & Writing Studio in 2020.

Over time I took on other subject librarian roles for nursing, international studies, interdisciplinary studies, and more.
