The WWU Gravity Lab is a new research group in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Western Washington University. The group is led by Dr. Svenja Fleischer, and its main focus is research and development for improved gravitational wave detectors. To learn more about gravitational waves and how they can be detected with ground-based instruments, visit the website for LIGO, the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory. With its first direct detection of gravitational waves in 2015, LIGO opened up a whole new window into the universe and laid the foundation for the new field of gravitational wave astronomy. It is truly an exciting time for gravitational wave research!
In addition, the group also is involved in a small-scale lab experiment studying gravity in collaboration with the Eöt-Wash Group at the University of Washington.
