APA- Parents of Kids Being Bullied

This website is best for parents because it offers tips for parents on what to look for in their child to detect bullying and how to address bullying if your child is a victim or bystander, or if your child is the bully. I think it’s helpful for parents to know that they need to have this conversation with their children and establish that, as a parent, they’re available to their child for confiding in. There are also tips for students and teachers regarding bullying, which is important for the parent to know so they can hold those people accountable for their side of the discussion. Giving the parents a resource that says what a teacher will be doing also shows that I take bullying prevention seriously and that I care about their children, my students. This website shows how parents, students, and all members of the community are interconnected and need to be involved in order to have a safe and healthy community.

In order to get this information to the parents, I would post it on the class website as well as send a newsletter home at the beginning of our bullying unit that directs the parents to find that link on the class web page.
