The “Staying Healthy” tab will lead students to articles related to physical activity and from there they can choose which one they would like to explore. The articles can also be read to the students. A good example is, Five Reasons Girls Should Play Sports. This article is great for young girls exploring different ways to be physically active. There are also videos to watch and quizzes that students can take as well as a dictionary of medical words for kids. One good video for students to watch is this one about maintaining a healthy weight and staying active. I found this site to be a great resource for teachers who may have difficulty incorporating physical activity into their day-to-day lesson plans. This site has many lessons varying from acting out animals in a children’s book, to simple physical workouts before a lesson may start. Another great thing about this website is that it provides videos of students doing the different exercises in the lessons. This provides visual evidence of the activities students may be able to follow along with. This website also provides the teacher with the different types of standards. Depending on what they’re focusing on, they may choose their specific standard and the website provides lessons that correspond and satisfy those specific standards.  Not only is this site a great source of various lesson plans, but also it is easy to navigate. It is user friendly for all future and current teachers.

This website contains lots of statistics about the common amount of physical activity per day for kids, consequences for a lack of physical activity during youth, and recommendations for the types of activities children should be doing and why. My favorite parts was the included toolkits to help parents get their children more physical active with ideas of games and activities. There were also some expectations of what children should be getting for physical activity during school hours, so that could be helpful for parents to know what their kids are already doing throughout the day.

    • I would integrate this into my classroom by sharing this information and website with my parents. I could inform them by using a newsletter, or a classroom blog website. I would highlight the information I found most useful or interesting, and share how important I think physical health is for children and the importance of promoting it inside their families.
