Title: We Are Girls Who Love to Run
Author: Brianna Grant
Publication Date: 2008
Publisher: Balanced Steps
Description: This is a bilingual book about how running and activity can have an impact on your whole life, written by a local author from my hometown. The book shows how running can bring people together, make you stronger physically and emotionally, and how physical activity and healthy choices can be beneficial to your whole body.
Integration: I would like to integrate this book in a social studies/community unit, because it talks about how to deal with your emotions in a healthy way. I would have students read this and then write a list of how they are helpful to friends, family, and community before making a collage about how they are valuable. This could also be used in a health unit to show the physical benefits of exercise where the students listen to the book and write a sentence about each health benefit mentioned in the book.
