What this book is about: The title of the book pretty much sums up what the book is about, staying healthy and eating right. I would recommend this book because it really dives into each of the food groups, what they do for our bodies, and why we need to eat them. Not only does it talk about the food groups, it goes into more specifics such as what nutrients, fats, and fiber are. The book does a great job of explaining to kids how what we put into our bodies is an important part of staying healthy and how we only need so much of certain types of nutrients and food types (protein, vegetables, etc.).

Integration in the classroom:

Science: Students can look at and research more on what various kinds of foods do to our body and they could list what foods might help your eyesight, muscles, bones, etc. They could also research how digestion works and how certain foods may take longer or shorter to digest.

Art: Students can make drawings, paintings, posters etc. that show various different foods and somewhere on the piece of art they could also list the benefits or detriments that food may have on the body.

Excerpt: You need to eat foods that are nutritious. Nutritious foods are good for you. They help you stay strong and healthy. Hiding inside most of the foods you eat are nutrients. Nutrients are too small to see. They enter your body when you eat. There are many different nutrients, and your body needs them all. They help you in many ways. Some nutrients are body builders. They help you grow big and strong.
