“All of Lucy’s classmates are getting their periods, and Lucy feels sad. This clip is where she gets her period.”
This video shows what it is like for a girl to get her period. It shows that it is okay to get your period after your friends and it could be a great way to explain that some people go through puberty at a later time and might not get their period until they are even older. It would be a good transition video for puberty and period talk. You could integrate this into a literacy unit where students are clarifying questions they may have or things they do not understand (just like how Lucy doesn’t understand why she isn’t getting her period) and make sure the students know it’s okay to not know and it’s okay to be behind and to ask questions about things (like in reading and writing when they get stuck, or fall behind).
