Student Resources for Home Use
This website is without a doubt the best link that I found for students to use at home. This site goes above and beyond to make it relevant for students, way too many links students would immediately write off as uncool. This site uses language that the students would recognize and speaks directly to them. I would give students time to look at and explore this website during class time. The videos, the information, and the resources available here are great for the students not only for tobacco but for all drugs!
Teacher Resources
https://classroom.kidshealth.org/classroom/6to8/problems/drugs/smoking.pdf
This is a great resource for teachers, it provides activities, facts, and links for students of all ages. This was our best source because it doesn’t only cover smoking but provides links to answer all sorts of student questions such as e-cigarettes, smokeless tobacco, and second hand smoke. It also provides worksheets, and links for various activities specific to tobacco.
Another great site is
http://www.educationworld.com/a_lesson/lesson/lesson034.shtml
This is a great site for teachers who want to integrate tobacco into multiple subject areas. It provides resources for math, science, social studies, and even art!
Parent Resource
Although this is an unlikely source, I really liked the focus that this link had on what a parent can actually do aside from educating their child. It is important to remember how much of an effect parent behavior and attitude can have. This link goes outside the cheesy just say no complain and really touches the roots of a lot of problems teens can have when it comes to smoking. I would introduce this website to parents in an email that would discuss the upcoming events in our class. Keeping parents involved is very important!
