1. Internet Sources for Students
Kid Power Articles click here.
General Info: On this website you can scroll down to child abuse prevention and there are a ton of links that are related to child abuse, it has articles and handouts talking about what is safe touch and what secrets shouldn’t be secrets. I think this is a great website to show students what is safe and what is not, and these articles really explain in detail.
Core Integration: I would utilize this in health class. I would explain to my students what child abuse is and that this may be a sensitive topic but it is very serious for everyone to learn. I would show this specific hand out https://www.kidpower.org/library/article/safe-unsafe-bribes/ and explain what safe and unsafe bribes are. For a little assignment I would have a student turn to their neighbor and tell them one safe bribe and one unsafe bribe.

2. Internet Source for Teachers
Child Abuse awareness, click here.
General Info: This sight thoroughly explains th
e different types of child abuse such as physical, sexual, emotional and neglect. I chose this because within each type of abuse they explain what it is and then they have a chart explaining behavioral indications of abuse and physical indications of abuse. It also gives great tips on abuse prevention. It is a great site for teachers to really be aware of the different types of child abuse so they can look for it in their students because unfortunately many teachers will come across a kid during their career that is being abused.
Core Integration: I would integrate this site into my health class. I would take the facts of the information given and break it into bullet points regarding the important parts the students need to learn instead of giving 3-5 graders reading a whole paragraph that they may not understand. For a follow up aassignment I would try to find a video to explain child abuse prevention visually.

3. Internet Source for Parents
Link: Prevent Child Abuse America
General Information: This is the best internet site because it has tons of information for the parent to look at about abuse. It not only covers multiple topic of abuse and how what that may look like, but it is also parent friendly. What I think sets this internet site apart from the others that I researched was the fact that it has a Tips of the Week for parents specifically with details on how to talk to their child about tough topics. I would introduce this internet site by sending a newsletter home and sending an email to each family with a link attached.
