This site is great for all students. There is a great list of why it is important to keep your body healthy and get familiar with how inside of you works. There is a great “how the body works” and if you click on the hyperlink it will bring you to the page where you can get familiar with body parts. You are also able to learn and participate in quizzes, movies, activities & word finds.

If I were to incorporate this into a core topic I would have the students learn and research each body part that is listed and find three body parts that they found interesting. I would also like them to list one thing they found out that they didn’t know. This allows them to really focus and read about an interesting part of the body to be able to learn about digestion of the stomach and what you put into your body learning about their side effects.

By the time the student is in middle school, they should know the differences between proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. This will allow them to go in-depth further about the specifics that make up the key components of food. Furthermore, helping them determine what food they should be consuming to have a healthy mind and body.
