- We found Social Media Savvy: Facts and Figures about Selfies, Smartphones and Standing Out to be the best nonfiction resource for students, that teaches children about social media and staying safe online. The book is a very child friendly read, recommended for ages 10-12, that is full of social media facts and its usage in our world today, including a chapter on protecting your online privacy and a chapter on digital dangers and distractions. This book can be incorporated into a geography/history lesson that talks about the different regions of the world and comparing their social media usage and the age groups associated. This could then lead into the discussion of staying safe online, as the book progresses.

- The book Social Media Savvy: Facts and Figures about Selfies, Smartphones and Standing Out could be integrated in a geography/history lesson. You can teach a geography lesson about the continents and then discuss the usage of social media in these different regions. Students are not only learning geography but they are learning about internet and social media usage throughout the world. The book focuses mostly on teens and social media but this information can be integrated into core curriculum for time and teaching purposes. Depending on the time allotted for this lesson, the teacher can also get into the chapters on protecting online privacy and digital dangers to teach children more about staying safe online.
