Brain on Drugs

Brain on Drugs: A Movie Commentary

Teacher can introduce this activity by letting the students watch this documentary about the effects of the substance abuse of alcohol on the human brain. Students can take a couple notes about what they took most out of the activity, and then reflect back to it when the video has ended. Students will write a short reflection about their thoughts of the video. They can practice their writing of non-fiction literature and ways they can express their opinions. Students will then pair up to talk about what they wrote about. This activity introduces students to the dangers of substance abuse while helping them with their literacy competency.

If you have younger students I suggest watching the video a few times. There are a lot of advanced science topics in it. You may have to break it down throughout the week so that students can understand the overall point of the message.
