General Information:

  • Internet SafetyBrainPOP Jr.1999-2020, 3 min 46 secK-2.
  • The video starts out by setting an example regarding what to do if a stranger sends you a message online. Not only does this clip show how easy it can be to receive messages from people you don’t know, but it also shows you how to handle and prevent that situation. Then the film goes further into the importance of internet safety by explaining why you should keep your personal information to yourself and what information qualifies as personal. This video discusses not talking to people you don’t know on the internet, information that should be kept private, the importance of involving adults if something makes you uncomfortable, and how we can protect our information and computers.

Core Integration:

  • Keeping in mind that my ideal students for this topic/video would be in second grade, I would follow up this video is a writing assignmentI’d like my students choose from various scenarios that I’d supply them with and write a response on how to safely handle the situation. For example, one scenario idea would be, “you’re on your computer and suddenly a message pops up on your screen. The username of the sender sounds familiar, but you are not completely sure that you know who they are. What should you do in this scenario?”
