I attended IWC-9, focused on “Sustaining International Waters Cooperation”, November 5-8, 2018, in Marrakech, Morocco. I represented our Nooksack-Fraser Transboundary Nitrogen Project (NFTN), one of seven demonstration projects world-wide as part of the International Nitrogen Management System (INMS), which is funded through the Global Environment Facility (GEF). This was very different from the standard scientific meeting. Talks and workshops focused on projects aiming to address environmental problems in both freshwater and marine ecosystems, in a way that is sensitive to local needs and cultures.
