I’m a marine biologist who uses genomic approaches to address questions in ecology, evolutionary biology, and conservation. My current interests and directions include (1) the molecular basis of phenotypic variation and acclimatization, (2) conservation genetics, and (3) the use of environmental DNA to detect and monitor rare species and assess biodiversity. I also have a long-standing interest in the biology of reef corals and sea anemones, particularly with respect to the symbiotic relationships they form with single-celled algae that live within them. Please see the Research page for more information on my research.
I am stationed at Western Washington University’s Shannon Point Marine Center in beautiful Anacortes, Washington. I serve as a Research Assistant Professor and Capstone Coordinator for Western’s Marine and Coastal Science Program.
