As Director of Academic Technology & User Services (ATUS) I oversee an organization that supports the mission of the university with enterprise services advancing the use of technology and innovative practices supporting teaching and learning. My role is to align our services with the evolving needs of the university and to build campus partnerships with a shared purpose.
I’ve been supporting academic technologies for Western since 1999. Major accomplishments at Western include the adoption of Blackboard (in 2000), the migration to Canvas (in 2013), the creation of the Student Technology Center (in 2004) and the creation of the Digital Media Center (in 2016). I became Director of ATUS in March of 2016.
My primary interests are in digital literacies, faculty development and the adoption of innovation. Recent projects include the creation of the Digital Media Center, 3D printing services, 3D modeling and visualization (including virtual reality) workshops, central support for WordPress, and Open Educational Resources.
