GET INVOLVED IN THE LAB
What do students do in the HCND lab? Research in the lab depends on the contribution of talented and hard working Behavioral Neuroscience and Psychology students. Students in the lab are involved in all aspects of cognitive neuroscience research including:
-
Designing and Implementing New Experiments
-
Acquisition of Brain Signals
-
Analyzing and Interpreting Data
-
Reading and Discussing Relevant Literature
-
Preparing and Presenting Data at Conferences and Meetings
-
Writing Papers
What will be expected of me in the lab? Students who want to volunteer in the lab are expected to devote approximately 6-10 hours per week to the lab activities described above. Although lab meetings are scheduled for the same time each week, much of the work in the lab can be carried out on a more flexible schedule. Students should also be available to work in the lab for at least three quarters (more is event better). The greatest benefit from the lab experience is typically not realized until the second year in the lab.
How do I become a Volunteer? Please download and fill out the Lab Application and submit it to Dr. K Jantzen (kelly.jantzen@wwu.edu). Potential volunteers will then meet with Dr. Jantzen in person to establish the potential for mutual interest. Note that the application process is competitive and being accepted in the lab is based on a number of factors including but not limited to:
-
Current number of volunteers
-
Classes taken
-
GPA
-
Interest and goals of the applicant.
