Book Article

Setting: Book critics are seen in newspapers, magazines, and online.

Subject: A book critique can be on literally anything. In this case the website attached has a lot of different articles written by four different women: Susan Bordo, Ana Marie Cox, Daisy Hernandez, and Dana Nelson. After reading the articles I came to a conclusion that they were mostly trying to defend her from other critics.

Participants: The writers of book critiques could be anyone who has an influence on whatever topic it’s written on. It could also be written by publishers and editors for major firms. Normally critiques are written just by one person as to show their full opinion on it. The readers could be anyone who is considering reading the book and wants to know what it is about. Also, the readers could be anyone writing their own critique that are looking for common talking points, someone to quote in their own critique, or even someone to argue against to make it more interesting.

Exigencies: This genre is used whenever books are published, more often non-fiction pieces or autobiographies. Its accepted social function is to provide feedback on books that people may be interested in reading.
