Located in Miller Hall 058 (Upper Basement)
This resource lab has hundreds of linguistics related materials, including books, journals and posters. The Linguistics Club meets here once a week and our Linguistics Tutors use this space during their scheduled hours. It has comfy chairs and a couch, as well as a white board and PC.
Many of the books and materials in this library have been donated by Nita Shipley, in honor of her late husband, Professor Dwan Shipley, an instructor at Western for many years. A great many donations come from retired Western faculty member Rudolf Weiss, a phonetician and long-time director of the Linguistics Program; from John Davis, a linguist, Bellingham resident, and friend of the Western Linguistics program; from Hideo Makihara, a linguist and friend of the Western Linguistics program; and from current faculty members, Anne Lobeck and Kristin Denham. We are very grateful for these donations.
Students of Linguistics may use any of the materials in the Linguistics Resource Lab, Miller Hall 058.
